No speaking until the new year...

'No speaking until the new year' is what the director of our Fragments Ensemble said. As a writer I feel gagged. While our ensemble has ample opportunities to express themselves in movement I have but my pen and myself to reflect with.

The spine of every performance is the music.

Music is not to be taken lightly, especially in theatre. Have you noticed - all noticeable performances has music written specially for them. Because music is just as important as the script. It's virtually part of it. What is music? Conversation without words? A meaning without words? No matter what your answer is - theatre can't go without music. Just like live. Because the theatre is a living world. What is a world without soul? What is a world without music?

The Empty Space...

Yes it is no accident that the title of this rant is the above. In this company (Fragments) there can never be enough homage paid to the great Peter and we are enormous fans of the sufficiency of the human body and the collective. However, this title is not referring to a physical and theatrical empty space. Rather 'the empty space' refers to a glorious hole in my research that baffles me a little. Granted I haven't pulled out all the stops yet but one wouldn't have expected such information to… Continue

Fragments Ensemble..... Training

First days are by their very nature difficult. The beginning has always fascinated me both in theatre and indeed life and I have often wondered why, in many ways my fascination with beginnings is to do with the fact that beginnings are loaded with hope and also inevitably coupled by a certain degree of nervous… Continue
