CAN DYSLEXICS WRITE OR IS THIS JUST CRUEL FICTION?

DYS(the)LEXI presents dyssing monadys, the only annul festival in London celebrating the work of dyslexic story makers every Monday and Wednesday of the week from October to November 09 at this year’s sponsored venue, The Horse, 124 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7XG.
dyssing monadys will celebrate the work of dyslexic filmmakers, poets and theatre writers for two months in association with Dyslexia Awareness Week, in an attempt to prove that dyslexic’s can write.
Dyslexia can be a gift, not a ‘cruel fiction,’ as implied by Graham Stringer, the Labour MP for Blackley, Greater Manchester. Comments like this and those by Professor Dennis Harding, implying that dyslexia is more of a, “guise,” for poorly performing students to get away with bad spelling and grammar, (The Times, May 31, 2009), is extremely damaging and shows great ignorance towards a learning disability that dates back to the late nineteenth century.
Although people with dyslexia learn differently and struggle with left brain activities, they are often original storymakers, and msft, the engine behind the festival, hope that dyssing monadys, will encourage a more positive view of this learning difference.
Festival Producer, Lennie Varvarides said, “dyssing monadys and other events taking place as part of Adult Dyslexia Awareness Week, such as Dysfest, will raise the profile on dyslexic story makers and hopefully force more out of the creative closet.”

Editors Notes:
All box office proceeds will be donated for the creation of a new charity called, DYS(the)LEXI, which will campaign and promote the creative writing of dyslexic story makers in the United Kingdom.

Why? - Because msft loves theatre. Not just the finished product, but all the drama that brings the product to life.
