Stellar Network's Open Page

Open Page is a script laboratory for theatre, film, television or radio scripts at early draft stage. Experienced directors or script developers chair the evenings: scripts are given unrehearsed readings and examined by a friendly industry group.

Stellar Network's Open Page: Chaired by Sunila Galappatti

Come along to Open Page at the BFI to hear new scripts in any media performed by actors cast on the spot. Guest Chair Sunila Galappatti will guide the readings and feedback with the help of you, the audience.

An evening that provides the first look at exciting new scripts or screenplays, Open Page gives you the chance to hear experts engage with writers and get an insight into how the classic scriptwriting dangers can be avoided or overcome.

Writers: Here’s the chance to test out your work with an informal industry group. Submit your work to an Open Page evening and get your latest script up on its feet with the help of attending actors.

Whether it’s a new idea or a re-written scene, your piece must be no more than fifteen minutes, and can be written for theatre, radio, TV or film. This is not a showcase but a testing ground, enabling you to hear your script off the page and to get informed feedback. Please note we will be actively seeking submissions in early draft stages or those with a particular problem to work on rather than polished pieces of work.

The upcoming evening is 24th September 2007 at 7.00pm.

Here’s how to apply:
• To apply, please send us a single Word file containing: your name and
contact details, details of what you want to achieve from the workshop, your 15
minute piece, and a list of characters. Please title the file
yournamedate.doc; eg arthurmiller120305.doc.
Please send submissions to openpage@stellarnetwork.com
• The deadline for entries is Monday 10th September. We’ll let you know
at least two days prior to the evening if your script will be used.
• All submitting writers get free entry to Open Page as part of our commitment to new writing

And to attend:
• If you are an actor email your spotlight number to us direct at openpage@stellarnetwork.com before registering as below.
• If you would like to attend an Open Page evening please log on to www.stellarnetwork.com click on ‘UK’ and then ‘Calendar’ and then on the details of the event to register your place. We now have to charge a nominal fee of £3. This will show up in American dollars.
• Space is limited as we like to keep the sessions small and the debate lively- so come prepared to have an opinion!

Open Page evenings are held at: British Film Institute, Southbank
