Profile Information

My Quick CV
The vision for Lights of London is the production of thoughtful and entertaining theatre, with a particular emphasis on comedy, musicals, and the works of Shakespeare.

The company was originally set up to debut solo musical shows at the Edinburgh and Brighton festivals; these shows were well-recieved by theatre audiences and have also proved popular with audiences in community venues.

Based in Shoreditch, East London and with a special love and interest in the culture and history of the area, the company was named after the town of its birth. Shoreditch, once the home of Shakespearian theatre, is the ideal area to bring his plays alive and make them accessible to a popular modern audience, and there are plans to do so, both in Shoreditch and in venues beyond East London. A successful production about Will Shakespeare's early days in Shoreditch premiered at the Hackney Empire in 2008 and at the Old Blue Last, Shoreditch.

At Lights of London we believe "The East End is the new West End " with it's rich theatrical heritage and have recently established a working pub theatre space Upstairs at the Old Blue Last on Curtain Road, adjacent to the site of the original Curtain theatre. It is also envisioned to form strong links with venues in Southwark - Shakespeare's other theatrical home and Stratford upon Avon.
