Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
Actor/Facillitator

• I enjoy working collaboratively as a theatre maker and performer. Music is a vital part of my work, and I play the violin, clarinet, guitar and sing. During my musical theatre training I was awarded the Highest Regional Award for my Grade 4 examination with 97%. I also have varied dance experience and I have worked as an actor/voice-over artist, as well as a producer/other technical roles for various students films and projects, and for the university radio station.

• I have worked in a plethora of venues; amateur, professional and site specific ranging from theatres, music festivals and to award ceremonies. I have worked through a vast array of performance styles which range from pantomime, musical, drama, children’s theatre and street theatre. This is predominantly through the mediums of devising and scripted work.

• Whilst studying for my BA (upper second) at the University of Huddersfield I specialised in performance, specifically looking at character development. However, I also specialised in technical theatre. This showed me the wider aspects of working in a theatre company, and also informed my performance style through the marriage of technical work to performance. I beleive it is important for an actor to understand areas of production aside from performance, as through understanding a form, the gained knowledge can be developed for personal enhancement in a specified manner.

• Whilst at university I have worked with playwrights Gordon Steel and Alice Nutter, and the theatre companies Slung Low, Red Ladder, Arden, Chol and IOU. Recently I have undertaken workshops with ActUp in collaboration with the Oxford School of Drama.
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
The power to create character and develop this.
My favourite theatre something is...
Heightened character - be this tragic, or comic, especially the juxtaposing of these two elements.
