Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
I'm an actress, dancer, psychic reader, poet/writer and gothic make up artist looking into theatrical make up at some point. I also do the odd assistant stage management when it is needed. As well as this, I have a little experience in lighting and sound as well as get ins and get outs.

As you can probably gather I leave no doors unopened! I love acting on stage (mainly because it's mostly what I've done!) and am open to radio, film, tv and co-oporate work. I prefer the classics such as Shakespeare and Molliere, but if a fantastic contemporary play was to emerge, then I'd consider it as well. I specialise dance wise in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, bellydance (fusion and raqs gothique), flamenco, salsa, bollywood and bhangra. When it comes to psychic reading I do palmistry, tarot, psychometry and scrying. I write about almost anything that inspires me and adore what goes on behind the scenes, hence the interest in the make up, lighting, sound and stage management.
My Quick CV
Most of my work has been theatre based so far - starting from playing 'Shen Teh/Shui Tah' in Bertolt Brecht's 'The Good Person of Sechzuan' at university, then the rest of my work has been where I trained at the Courtyard Theatre in Kings Cross. There I did plays ranging from Shakespeare and the Mystery Plays to Ionesco and other modern playwrights. I've done one short Bollywood film for BBC3's Bollywood Season and hosted as well as produced my own radio show at university for 2 years. When I'm not performing, I teach drama for Act Too Stage Academy and Gothic Bellydance in Brighton. Currently working on a new piece of writing.
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
Watching the musical 'The Wizard of Oz' in my home town of Plymouth when I was a little girl. I loved the whole thing - the drama, dance, costume, acting...everything. I even joined in myself at several occasions!!!!
My favourite theatre something is...
Anything to do with Shakespeare - especially the Globe Theatre
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
How you are easily judged on looks rather than talent!

So tell me guys - Shakespeare - is he the best writer ever for his generation? Or do you think there are better contemporaries than him?

I'm interested in this as Shakespeare in my mind was the godfather of plays, but I also acknowledge that there were other great writers at that time as well. I just wanted to see what other people thought.
