performance rights costs

does anyone have any advice/ guidance around how to reduce cost of performance rights payments for a non-profit making theatre company? we're self funding, but concerned at how much of any potential fundraising we undertake could be swallowed up in these costs? eg. we plan a 6 pack of one hour plays/monologues over 3 days...but the perfomrance rights could amount ot over £500 - huge, if you're not the Donmar!
