What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
actor / stunt man/ writter / artist /singer/ fight Choreographer
My Quick CV
E-mail: ovandocarter@hotmail.com
Age range: 15- 28

What I’ve done so far
• Drama a-level, to better my understanding of acting, because I love and feel drawn to acting. This gave me a chance to act on stage in front of a large audience.
• Read books that have been turned in to films, because I want to know exactly what makes the story appeal to the audience, this has helped me to create face expressions/ body language from the written word better (translate words in to acting).
• Attended workshops (young audiences) at the national theatre so that I could refine my acting skills. From hear i learned how to capture the audience, and various ways on verse speaking.
• I have written 5 screen plays, so that i can understand the words from a play writers perspective, this helped me to better understand there plays.
• Model, so I could better understand the media industry from in front of the camera, hear I learned how to create a natural performance without any dialog, and the art of net working.
• Acted in amateur films so i could get used to acting behind the camera, which I found to be very different from the theatre approach.
• I have trained in kung fu for over 7 years and have taken part in various tournaments, because when I was young I dreamed of being like Jackie Chan, a stunt man/ actor. I have also in the last 3 yrs started practicing parkour.
• Started my own club training kung fu to lower year students, purely because I needed people to train with and it was fun.
• Choreographed many stage fights using my knowledge in kung fu, and through studding various fighting styles.
• Read books on philosophy to help me find a deeper understanding of martial arts.
• Read various books on physical education, to find out how i could train more effectively with the correct diet.
• After my a-levels i took a year out so that i could learn more about myself as a person, and develop my own style of martial art which is a combination of parkour and kung fu.
• I have studied weapons training and the flying trapeze to help me with stunt work.
• Write songs, i find its an emotional release.
• Acted as a forensic scientist to teach year 9 students about science, the school won the Royals Royse science prise.
• I am currently using my ability as an artist to turn one of my stories in to a comic; I hope this will allow for a bigger audience to become a part of my stories, and hopefully some day if someone wants to turn it in to a film I could act in it.

Acting experience
I have acted in the following plays as part of my a-level drama course
Production duration and roles
The crucible extract 5 minutes, character played john Procter
The Caucasian chalk circle 1 hour 30mins, character played: first and second lawyer
Machinal 1 hour performance, character played: first man
Baby love 30 minutes, character played : doctor, detective and assistant governor
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
plays in drama a-level, the main play : baby love
My favourite theatre something is...
acting on stage
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
some people are arigant / alot of con artist and users

Hi Ovando

Its really not the same just watching, and other students are not used to people just observing, not everyone might be comfortable with that so we'd have to ask how they felt first.

Best thing I would suggest is that you come and participate - I'd suggest paying for a 'taster' evening class. Wednesdays would be good.. these 2 classes are taught by our specialist Chinese Acrobatics coach >> 7pm acrobatics followed by 8.30pm chinese pole - £8 each or £16 for both together in total... you'll probably have a good time with these if you like Parkour.
Best Regards

Jackie
