Karl's Imposter's Blog (14)

The future... is wet.

Hello friends, We've been sleepy. In other words, we had to get a job and pay some bills. Credit crunch you know. Anyblog, Karl stopped writing in his secret red book and started blogging. He also started playing games but you can hardly blame him, can you? The writing continues, but now it's public domain - all our observations, all our social commentary and bizarre plot ideas are there for you to read, digest, and reproduce in your own work. Who knows what you might read, what might inspire… Continue

New Writing Evening

We're setting up script-reading evenings at the Victoria Park pub (360 Victoria Park Road, Hackney, London, E9 7BT) where writers get to try out exciting new material (or even scripts that they know won't ever get produced because of the controversial subject matter) to an audience of agents, producers and directors, not to mention an enthusiastic and supportive general public.

Review: Rhinoceros - The Royal Court

Conformity is the subject and Martin Crimp’s fresh translation successfully re-enforces the point of the original text, immersed within a set that does it justice as we would expect (considering today’s technology) and there’s no expense spared. In an era of increasing apathy

The Lesson

Much like the government ads that proclaim kids are positively gagging to be taught pretty much anything, as you watch the professor (John Eastman) begin The Lesson, you get the nagging feeling that something just isn’t quite right. It certainly isn’t - but while the simple logic of subtraction is lost upon the otherwise prodigious student (Amy Loughton) no matter how much he tries to explain, our inter

Bored...

While waiting for all those applications and competitions to process, think I'll write a short script about a couple who are fed up and plot to kill each other and do it for fun at a community centre. Perhaps I'll even get a "proper" job and just produce theatre for fun. Now if only I had some some actors who feel the same way... Unless of course the Arts Council stops funding the Olympics... ahh look, flying bacon. Continue

RE-REVIEW: Bluebeard - Old Red Lion Theatre

Thanks to Fluff Productions, I got to see the second half of their play, which clarified a few things lol.

--------------------------------------------

We are presented with the castle, where four children have been raised in refuge from the outside world for over two decades. "There are no more anythings," says the enigmatic Blue, seemingly a good enough reason not to bother teaching them about sex, politics or pop music. Yet in from the cold stumbles Mign

REVIEW: Bluebeard - Old Red Lion Theatre

Here is the story of children raised in solitude by a mother who’s telling not just lies, but a completely other world of truths. As an outsider makes their way in, the lies unravel to dramatic effect! But not really

How do you get a good showreel?

Some of the prices out there look a bit scary, considering most actors starting out can barely afford the rent. I've spotted this new company with a crazy offer... If you quote BRITISH THEATRE, you'll get 50% off their prices! Check it out!

Oh and add me as your friend. Or the chicken will be... eaten.... slowly... in front of a vegetarian
