Theatreland, an industry well-known for its shy and retiring personalities, has launched a social networking site to enable UK thespians to meet each other.

According to Marcus Markou, the founder of BritishTheatre.com, the theatre industry has "few opportunities for its professionals, of all talents, to network".

Great idea, Marcus - perhaps you could give the owners of the Groucho, the Ivy and the Century Club a few pointers on where they are going wrong?

Point missed by a mile, Marcus.
Firstly, a substantial number of the people involved in the industry ARE shy and retiring. Secondly, for geographic and financial reasons, it's not always easy to make face to face contact with other people involved in the industry and thirdly, if the writer imagines any of us can afford to hang out in the Ivy, or the Groucho or the Century, he must be 'avin a larf!
