Hi Ricky – glad you have the script about which the following:
This is highly poetic piece (as you can see) but one without
Noticeable directional notes. This is deliberate as I believe that
The director must be free in all aspects of the work (staging, lights
Costume, setting etc) with the same freedom that the writer gives
himself in writing the piece.
Any comments which you may have will be gladly received
& responded to – so here’s hoping that we will have this
opportunity to work together
looking forward to hearing from you
Martin
Hi Ricky:- good to get your comment –so, what am i up to at the moment? Well at the moment I am writing the final draft of my poetic drama Orpheus Descending –a piece for two actors (& a singing voice off stage) dealing with Orpheus as he prepares to descend to the Underworld in search of his great love.
I love the classical, poetic drama form & can only which that there were more outlets for it in the present climate. The drama is of course essential to any society that aspires to be ‘civil’ & as such verse-drama is one of the highest forms that can be practiced.
Also, the National Theatre of Ireland are reading my verse-play on Yeats ‘The Silence & The Moon’ –so as you see, it’s busy times here in Belgium.
Sometimes I bemoan the fact that, regarding my work at least, that I live in a non-English speaking country –even so, I have managed in the last two years to have two plays preformed in English ‘Troy’ & ‘Gilgamesh’ so perhaps all is not lost.
Let me know what plays you are involved with at the moment & any other news
Respect
Martin
Hi Ricky, It's good to hear from you and see you are still out there and have your own theatre company! Good luck with everything. I've added you to my friends so let's try and keep in touch. I'm currently preparing for a couple of things locally (Bournemouth/Poole). Love Molly x
hey, i haven't looked on here in such a long time! should really update my page i guess! not sure i'll make it along to duchess of malfi - so incredibly busy at the moment - planning trips to brighton and edinburgh fringe with a sketch comedy group i'm involved with. hope it all goes really well though. :) x
hey, just read your posts on the main page - i've heard about a production of Hippolytus that's going to be on at The Blue Elephant Theatre (Oval I think?), directed by a guy I've worked with before, can't remember the exact dates but mid-end April i think.
also, as usual, keep me posted if you need any help on the production side of things (particularly for anything Greek!)
hi ricky, how you doing? wow, i haven't looked at this site in ages, it feels good to be back! you working on any new shows? my current one is due to go up at the white bear in kennington 22nd april-11th may - i'll keep you posted, would be great to see you there!
i'm going to an 'edinburgh or bust' talk at the old vic tomorrow night, are you part of their new voices club? it's similar to masterclass except most of their events have a small fee... tomorrow will be my first time at one of their events, though i'm hoping to make it along to another one in a couple of weeks too...
Hey, was at Theatro Technis on Wednesday to watch Hamlet, and picked up one of your flyers whilst I was there! Hoping to make it along at some point, will let you know when, be good to see you again... My new show goes up at the White Bear 28th August-2nd September, check out my blog for details, would be cool if you could make it along...
hey ricky, great to meet you at the masterclass the other day, hope you can make it along to 'The Brother', if I don't see you there, hope to see you again soon... take care...

Hi Ricky
Looking forward to seeing you at the Putting On A Play event on 13th. We're just organising who's going to be talking about taking a play to Edinburgh for the extra workshop after the panel discussion. Come and say hi afterwards - maybe see you at AfterClass? Suzy
Hi Ricky, good luck with the production and the hard work of getting it to happen. If you've time, pop in to Masterclass on 13 July - we've got a free session on producing (or Putting On A Play!) with David Pugh and David Babini. Might be helpful for the future, check out www.masterclass.org.uk. All the best, Suzy
